About Charlotte
With a passion for empowering vocalists and a wealth of experience in vocal coaching, Charlotte West is a sought-after expert in her field. A graduate of the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts (NASDA), Charlotte further honed her skills in Estill Voice Training and the Meisner Technique. She provides comprehensive guidance to her students in her specialist topic of musical theatre and contemporary voice with a truly equal focus on storytelling and vocals.
Charlotte works with a diverse range of students, from high school and tertiary institutions to professional vocalists. She loves meeting and working with anyone excited about growing as a vocalist, no matter their starting point. She regularly hosts 'Vocal Retreat' weekends featuring expert guest presenters to support holistic vocal thinking, personal growth, and overall performance development.
Charlotte has unique skills and experience coaching performers with vocal sustainability and/or rehabilitation needs. She believes anyone can grow and develop their vocal control, regardless of their starting point or challenges. Her coaching style is built on a comprehensive understanding of the balance of physical and psychological processes at play in vocal performance, and a respect for how vastly different each individual can be.
Vocal loss and/or significant changes often have multifaceted impacts, and for many, it can be deeply emotionally impactful. To best support all her clients and particularly those with vocal health challenges, Charlotte is trauma-informed and has ongoing training and upskilling in this area to ensure she stays current and able to support and refer as needed. Charlotte is privileged to be supported by an ever-growing network of practitioners, whom she can refer to and work alongside to serve her clients best. These include but are not limited to Laryngologists, Physical Therapists, and Mental Health practitioners.
Charlotte feels her job is to assist each person she works with to realize their goals, not tell them what those goals should be. She is motivated to empower vocalists to own their vocal identity fully and to build strong skills for their vocal growth and artistic expression.
